2. He has stated that Lok Sabha elections will take place in 5 phases between April 16 to June 1 as the main aim is to ensure that the new govt is formed before 02 June when the term of present govt ends. The elections first phase will be executed on April 16, 2009 and will cover 124 constituencies. Phase two will be on April 23, 2009 and will cover 141 seats. The Phase three will be on April 30, 2009 and will cover 107 seats. The phase four and five will be held on May 7 and May 13, 2009 and will cover 85 and 86 seats respectively. Vote counting for elections will begin on 16 May 2009.
3. Presently 14th Lok Sabha term is in progress and more than Rs 16000 Crore will be spent on elections which will act as morale booster for the economy.
4. Total electorate for Lok Sabha polls is at 714 million and 499 of 543 Lok Sabha seats newly delimited.
