I am upbeat on SBI and same has been recommended earlier also as a likely trigger in form of its initiative to merge State Bank of Saurashtra with itself will give it a new lease of life and good stocks have no limits. This merger will also push the much needed consolidation in the banking sector and it has to do so failing which it mmay get threatened by ICICI bank.
2. In case the approval for merger takes place as a meeting is likely in this month than SBI's standalone balance sheet size will grow 1.5 times to Rs 8.20 lakh crore (Rs 8.20 trillion), almost double the size of ICICI Bank's and its branch network grows by 50 per cent to 14,400 branches.
